Kathy Lived In A Haunted House.

Katie used to live in an older house in a small town in Maine. No one in the family knew any history behind the house and most likely never will. The house had a basement and 4 rooms, the usual old house style.

The kitchen is where most of the “abnormal” activities would take place. The front door had an entrance, with another door, a heavy wooden door with a glass window. The way the door sat, you would have to push hard to open it and then you would be in a small porch which led to the front door. Quite often the front door would swing open on its own, but yet the outside door would remain closed. Next to the mysterious happenings inside these walls, Katie found solace in the charm and character of this historic home.

Have you ever experienced something so extraordinary that it becomes a part of your everyday life?

That’s how it was for them with the kitchen light. There was an old-fashioned fixture with a fluorescent bulb and a metal pull string, which Katie’s mother cleverly adorned with a piece of yarn so the children could reach it. It became a nightly ritual, watching that string being pulled.

Many members of the family felt a gentle presence, like an old lady lingering in the shadows. Strange things would happen too, like waking up in the middle of summer to closed windows and bundled blankets, despite falling asleep with everything open. They never felt afraid, it all just became part of their normal routine.

One fateful day, when Katie’s mother went to turn on the light, she was shocked so intensely it brought her to her knees.

I can’t say for certain, but I’m pretty sure yarn can’t deliver an electric shock.

Eventually, the family moved away, and they like to think their mysterious visitor enjoyed teasing and playing with them.

Life is full of unexplainable wonders, and sometimes they become cherished memories.

I hope you enjoyed that Real Ghost Story — it was short and sweet — Not unlike the cute Halloween Kitten in the picture above 🙂

I enjoy ghost stories where the family takes the paranormal activity in stride. That’s how I live my life in my own haunted house. Let me know in the comments below if you live in a haunted house or have experienced anything paranormal.
